Remembering The Genuis Of ‘Trap Door’ (1989)

I have just read in the news about the passing of Tony Brain and thought it rather sad in the way that the internet loves to mourn people we never really knew and just because they gave the World something amazing – in my case,  some of my childhood favourites – Trapdoor and Stoppit and Tidyup.

I’ve also only just found out that my husband Max actually knew Tony Brain and went to school with his kids, and I’m surprised that in four years of knowing Max, he never once thought to mention this. Apparently he was a lovely man, and from all the clips surfacing online in the wake of this news, it’s not hard to believe that.

In the case of Trapdoor, I loved the unique style of animation, but it was the theme music hooked me in more than anything, To my sheer delight I’ve stumbled across an episode which shows the characters all dancing to the full version of the theme song – matching the two together brilliantly!
