Future Shorts: ‘One’ (Film Festival)

I received a Press Release earlier today that I thought that I’d share with you all – may be of interest to those of you who, like me, are into your social media, and/or short films:

FUTURE SHORTS LAUNCH ‘ONE’
THE NEXT GENERATION FILM FESTIVAL
FROM THE CREATORS OF SECRET CINEMA

GLOBAL LAUNCH: NOVEMBER 6th 2010

FUTURE SHORTS ONE breaks boundaries, borders and convention. Future Shorts will provide an alternative to the traditional film festival model, believing that all people regardless of geography, status or wealth should be able to see the most important and exciting new work from the world’s boldest filmmakers. From New York to Perth; from Hanoi to Berlin; from Edinburgh to Copenhagen; this is the next generation of film festivals.

Launching simultaneously in 12 countries on Saturday 6th of November, the events will take place all over the world with a cutting edge fusion of film, music, performance and interactive design. Happening in a massive network of music venues, cinemas, theatres, clubs, warehouses, schools, hospitals, prisons, and more, Future Shorts aim to ignite a multi-cultural dialogue around film, culture and ideas.

This is not just an event. This is not just a film festival. This is a global cultural movement connecting creativity with people all over the world.

Audiences will be encouraged to connect with other festival-goers on the other side of the world through live link ups on Facebook and Twitter, sharing in the same experience and voting on their favorite films from their different locations.

Fabien Riggall, Founder and Director of Future Shorts, says ’Future Shorts is looking to bring together people everywhere to experience a film festival in a different way. We believe in a global communal film experience fusing a showcase of the world’s most exciting filmmakers with the best in live music and art. With Future Shorts ONE, we are launching the biggest independent film community in the world.’

Future Shorts ONE’s November Edition will feature the best in world short film, including ‘The Answer’ by Brit band Unkle, directed by John Hillcoat (‘The Road’), the story of a lost plastic bag narrated by legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog (‘Bad Lieutenant’, ‘My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done’) and a depiction of life turned upside-down in 1977 Berlin from leading Swedish filmmaker Jonas Odell in ‘Tussilago’.

Future Shorts is bringing creativity to the world. Be part of it.
