Aston (classical covers group)

Queen Kylie herself has just highlighted this fab YouTube clip from 2009 of an Aussie group called Aston, who have done a classical version of what is arguably Kylie’s best song… Confide In Me.

The sound is rather sweeping and Sunset Boulevard-esque and I LOVE it!

If you have chance, do please check our their YouTube channel for some other amazing classical covers, including Khe Sanh, and more recently, Gaga’s telephone! (below) – they’re fantastic!

UPDATE: I’ve just added their cover of Rude Boy by Rihanna to this post – absolutely epic – love it!!

18 May 2009 — Introducing ASTON an Australian pop group quite unlike anything else.
On this magnificent self-titled titled debut album, ASTONs musical vision is as simple as it is breathtakingly beautiful: To present a set of Australian classics like no one has ever heard them before. Contemporary Australian pop and rock classics presented as classical music.

Khe Sanh, To The Moon & Back, Beds Are Burning, Straight Lines, Never Tear Us Apart, Confide In Me, and more. Quite simply some of the biggest and most loved songs in modern Australian popular music, radically rearranged and delivered afresh by a virtuoso outfit of young classical musicians.
