The Dark Knight Rises – Full Teaser Trailer

The_Dark_Knight_Rises_1

*is totally a huge gooey mess at the moment!*

First off, I have to say, pals and regular readers will probably know that I am a HUGE fan of the Nolan Batman movies, and, having just seen the actual teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises (folks really need to ignore that crappy spoof trailer that’s on YouTube!), which has just been released by Warner Brothers… I can confirm that I am indeed BEYOND excited for this last movie!!

WHOOP!!

Thundercats (2011 TV Series) – 9 minute preview!

So, I meant to post this one last week (as I’ve been following and posting about this since the news was first announced), but current events caught up with me and so I’m only just getting around to doing this now hehe! :)

OMG, OMG, OMFG-HOOOOOOOOO!!!!  AWESOME!!!!!!

Roll on 29th July 2011 – the series kicks off with an hour special on Cartoon Network! ^_^

Ghost – The Musical – Theatrical Trailer

GHOST - The Musical

The marketing team behind Ghost – The Musical released a trailer today for the London run, and it is TOTALLY epic – even more so than the teaser trailer that I first posted many months ago…

Just you TRY and tell me that this isn’t going to be the theatrical event of the year!! :D

Regular readers of my blog will know that I am a HUGE fan of this production, and I’ve yet to even see it, after plans to go watch in Manchester fell through!

I am starting to give up hope on a random invite from the lovely people who ask for reviews, and am now 100% looking to buy a ticket – does anyone else fancy booking with me?? :D

I’ve been looking forward to this since it was announced and my excitement surrounding the show is totally bubbling over!!!

I was passing by the theatre earlier (which, incidentally, looks amazing, and SO much better without all the neon pink Grease signage) and I also happened to pass within 5cm of the totally amazeballs Ms Sharon D. Clarke!!! (who, coincidentally, is playing Oda Mae Brown in this new production).

It took all the effort that I had not to scream in her face… I quickly shuffled by and screamed down my phone about 30cm down the road instead hehe!

Totally a West End legend, and without doubt, my favourite West End star! :D

Ghost – The Musical, opens at London’s Piccadilly Theatre on 19th July 2011, with preview performances from 24th June. The show duration is 2hr 30min, with one interval.

Thundercats [2011] – Trailer

OMG, OMG, OMFG-HOOOOOOOOO!!!!

This looks absolutely FREAKIN amazing!!!

I’m a child of the 80s and a massive Thundercats fan – I reckon that the trailer for this new series is abso-friggin-lutely totally SUPER AWESOME!!!!

EPIC GEEKGASMS!!! :D

The series is going to screen on the Cartoon Network (YAY for my housemates, who recently got me this!!) – should be around from July 2011.

(Totally nabbed this off Matthew Cooksey – thanks fella hehe).

Doctor Who – Series 6 – Brand New Trailer!!!

OMFG!  OMFG!  O-M-F-G!!!! :D

Just when I thought that I was soooooo ‘over’ new Doctor Who, they go and release a brand new trailer that actually makes it look pretty fucking EPIC!!!! ^_^

Without doubt, my favourite bit is:

“Fear me, I’ve killed hundreds of Timelords”

“Fear ME. I’ve killed all of them!”

Actually cannot wait now!!! :D

Trailer: Sucker Punch [2011]

Sucker Punch is billed as an ‘action/fantasy/musical’ and is soon to hit the screens of cinemas up and down the country.

Synopsis

Sucker Punch is an action/fantasy/musical and like nothing you’ve ever seen before by the crew behind Watchmen. Baby-Doll (Emily Browning) has been locked up in a mental asylum but is not going to go without a fight. With her imagination on over-drive, and with the help of some of her fellow inmates, she is out to conquer the world, a world that is fantastical and probably imaginary and includes dragons and knife-wielding bandits and anything she can fantasise into existence. Snyder, the director, has called Sucker Punch Alice in Wonderland with machine guns, and it’s certainly quite a ride!

Admittedly I am a little unsure of what to make of this from the trailer – on one hand it looks quite disturbing and dark (which you’d expect from the team behind Watchmen I guess) but then about half way through it all goes a little bit cuckoo-bananas and goes all fantasy on its bad self! Now, don;t get me wrong, I am a huge musical and fantasy geek, and  so really was looking forward to this film, however at present it just seems a little bit ‘odd’. I’ll no doubt end up going to see this film  on my Unlimited card with Cineworld (especially as the new Transformers movie is one of the trailers in cinemas), but am not sure if I’d actually pay to go see it, and would probably just pick it up on DVD when it slides into the <£5 section if I am honest.

Of course, my opinions are  based purely on the trailer, and I’ve yet to hear any of the musical songs from the film (they’re making a big deal of how integral the music and choreography is to the film, though my understanding is that this is not a musical in its traditional form), therefore it may be so bizarre that it ACTUALLY works, who knows – only time will tell!

Sucker Punch is released in the UK on April 1st 2011.

GHOST – The Musical (Fun Facts!)

I, along with most of the theatre-going community, am VERY eagerly anticipating what is, without doubt, sure to be this year’s theatrical event of the year – the premiere of  GHOST – The Musical.

The production will open very shortly in Manchester (March 28th – 14th May 2011), before heading down to the Piccadilly Theatre in the West End to start on what will hopefully be a jolly long run! :)

Huge fan of leading lady Caissie Levy, and with the incredibly phenomenal Sharon D. Clarke playing Oda Mae Brown, this casting is MUST SEE! Sharon gets some up-tempo and gospel numbers, which I’ve always wanted to hear her sing, I bet she smashes them out of the park! :D . I had thought Richard Fleeshman would look a little young especially when paired with Caissie, however from the press photos that I’ve seen, it looks like this unlikely pairing is working surprisingly well! The creative crew is also mind-blowingly good, so many people who I have a lot of respect for working on this!

Here are a few ‘fun facts’ about the production:

1. GHOST The Musical has had to increase the power supply to the Manchester Opera House from 500 to 800amps to power £4m worth of lighting, sound and video equipment – that’s enough to power a row of terraced houses.

2. Manchester Opera House has been closed to the public for 8 weeks whilst the set is built and the production rehearsed.

3. Leading Lady Caissie Levy who plays Molly and her two understudies have been taught to throw pots by professional potters Stephen Llewellyn and Katie Adams so that they can act the iconic pottery scene.

4.  There are over 6500 meters of fibre optic cables – that’s four times the length of the Brooklyn Bridge.

5. During a year’s run of the show, Assistant Stage Manager Annalysa Godin will need to prepare over half a ton of clay for Molly to use onstage.

6. One of the illusions in the show was originally created in 1898, the blueprints for which were lost until recently and it has only been recreated once before in America.

7. There are 150 moving lights – 2 of which are able to track the movements of Molly and Sam from sensors worn by the actors.

8. There are 149 miles of cable in the show which would, when placed end to end, stretch from Manchester to Watford.

9.  Over 13,000 batteries per year will be used on radio microphones in GHOST The Musical all of which are recycled.

10. The flyman has to climb from the stage to the fly floor during each performance – that’s the equivalent of climbing a 22 story building or The Statue of Liberty each week!

11.  Writer Bruce Joel Rubin’s wife is a real life potter; the inspiration for Molly in GHOST.

12.  Unchained Melody, which features in the musical, has been number 1 four times in the UK charts.

13.  Bruce Willis and Harrison Ford both turned down the role of Sam Wheat in the original film.

14.  There are over 69,000 musical notes in the vocal score.

15. Most of the props from the show have been especially brought in from New York including painter’s scaffolding, 300 empty pizza boxes from Brooklyn, a sledgehammer, funeral wreath and a door peephole.

Whilst we’re showing some love for GHOST – The Musical, here’s the original trailer for the musical, along with a YouTube of the Facebook Sessions that they did back in Nov 2010 which previews several of the tracks ^_^

Don’t miss the chance to see this riveting, emotional and compelling show in Manchester, before the rest of the world.

Water For Elephants [2011] – really want to see this!

Regular readers of my blog can be forgiven for thinking that, at 25, I am starting to have something of a mid-life crisis. First I went off and reviewed the Bieber movie, and now I’m shouting from the rooftops that I really want to see a film that stars Robert Pattinson… even I’m a little concerned heh!

The good thing about the casting of Pattinson, for me, is that I never saw him in any of the Twilight movies, so don’t have this preconceived notion about how he’s going to appear in a film. Sure, I’ve heard everyone else’s views, but this film is clearly a substantial break away from the screaming teen vampire market, and it’ll be nice to be able to judge his performance based on a fresh slate I think. From the look of the trailer, he actually looks to be very capable in this more adult role!

Bit of an unusual storyline (the film is based on the best-selling book by Sara Gruen), which is what really sells this film to me, and it’ll also be fabulous to get to see Reese Witherspoon back on our silver screens – hurrah!

Anyway, have a gander at the trailer and judge it for yourself! :P

Oh, and just as a side note, the music on the trailer is sublime!!! Best bit of film music that I’ve heard since Daft Punk did their stuff for Tron: Legacy! Nick Cave at his finest imo – have posted the full song below the trailer.

Water for Elephants is scheduled for release at the end of April 2011.

Harry Potter And The X-Rated Trailer [Cassette Boy]

Once again, Cassetteboy has excelled in the field of mirthsome trailers – with the Harry Potter franchise being the latest ‘victim’, and a tired old meme given a fresh lease of life :)

Splendiferous!

Of course, I would normally make a crass wand related joke right about now usually, however the Holy Moly story about the guy who ‘flopped his cock out’ at the HP premiere last week contains more than enough LOLs :P

Desperate Housewives Season 7 Promo

Been looking forward to this for AGES!

Really can’t wait for the season to start and I’m (still!) loving that Vanessa Williams is in it as a regular! :D

EPIC!

(nb – for anyone interested, as well as sampling The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, the other song used on this trailer is News4 U by Fitz & The Tantrums).
