Harry Judd – Attitude cover!

Screen Shot 2011-12-10 at 18.51.57

I’m sure many people have already seen the hawt new cover already – however it’s only now that I find myself at home, and in an environment suitable enough to post! ;)

RAWR!!!!

Of course, Harry is no stranger to the cover / pages of Attitude, having gotten up to lots of mischief with the rest of the McFly lads in the past – however it’s great to see him get a second solo-cover so soon after his last! (Feb 2011).

Click to enlarge ANY of the pictures! :P

One thing that I will NEVER tire of, McFly’s Attitude Mag covers / photoshoots! :P

A digital edition of the (ever fabulous) Attitude Mag featuring Harry can be purchased online, via this link.

“306″ – Gay Short Film

306

I’ve just sat down to watch 306, a gay short that was sent across by The Ungirly Girl for me to take a look at, and I thought that I’d share the short with you guys too.

The basic premise is that this follows the day in the life of a rather cute student.

It should be noted before you click play that there are a few adult scenes in the short (that is, scenes that may be inappropriate for younger audiences, and NOT just that there are scenes with adults, heh!) – everything is tasteful, and there’s nothing too gratuitous. Not one for granny though :P

Sat alone in a darkened room, feeling exhausted after a very long slog at work these past few days, this short has totally caught me at the right time to warrant me to watch all of it, and I adore the simple piano scoring.

Rather decent imo, originally made in 2010, it would be interesting to see other shorts that this writer/producer/director, Elliot London, has come up with in the time since, to see how they have evolved.

“It’s Time”

It'sTime

I’ve just come across the below Australian video, called ‘It’s Time’ – which I cannot implore enough people to watch!

http://www.getup.org.au/marriagematters

Beautifully done, makes a fantastic point, and is so much more sentimental than anything else that I’ve seen done this year.

Beautiful, well done GET UP!

My letter got published in Attitude Magazine! ^_^

AttitudeNov2011

Buckle up dear reader, for I am about to get all Sex In The City on y’all…!

I am very pleased that an email that I wrote to the top gay lifestyle mag in the UK, Attitude, in response to their article on threesomes (in their ‘Sex’ issue) has just been published! :-D

Now before you all rush to call me prudish, and ‘Curtain Twitcher of Vauxhall’ (though, based on the feedback that I’ve had thus far, there seems to be a fantastic wave of support behind what I wrote! :D ), I would like to add that I have no issue whatsoever with the content of the article that I was referring to – far from it! :P

My issue was just the throwaway line from the couple who were interviewed for the piece that appeared to infer that, as my partner and I choose not to invite a third into our bedroom, that our relationship is completely devoid of maturity. A ridiculous notion, and, if anything, one could argue that it’s actually completely the other way around, especially at their ‘time of life’, (you may have noticed my sly ‘whilst I may not have quite as much life experience’ – ha!) and with all of the health risks etc that such behaviours can invite – and I am not saying that they do so irresponsibly – I fail to see how my/our decision to stick with two is somehow less mature than their decision to roll with three!

Perhaps my only regret is telling the gay world, and his moustached wife that we get up to filth! haha! (though to be fair, I think most friends I have in real life, and online, know this anyway haha!). I innocently added that in to try to expel any inferred notion that I am some plain boring chap in the middle of nowhere who finds the ideas of threesomes shocking… seriously, I live directly opposite the Hoist… enough said, heh! Now I just have to hope that the letters page doesn’t inadvertently end up going around the work gays… though I am sure that it will… oops! hehe! *looks for a crash helmet*

It was great of Attitude magazine to publish the letter, especially as the magazine has something of a cool and ‘sexy’ image – so it was really nice to see that they allowed someone to champion the, perhaps less exciting, virtues of monogamous love, in contrast to a cover story piece that they published in their edgy ‘Sex’ issue. If you agree with what I wrote, do please feel free to email them to show support for my comments – maybe if enough people stand up for ‘love’, I can become a regular Susan Kennedy from Neighbours, championing the ‘real’ people through my comments in the media, and looking fabulously glam whilst I do, or they’ll do a ‘Love’ issue or something haha!!! ;) They’re on attitude@attitude.co.uk :)

Regular blog readers may know that I am something of a fan of Frankmusik! (especially his acoustic album, Completely Me).

It seems that by purchasing one album, you are actually, in effect getting two albums, by the way of all the additional bonus content! The first bonus track, ‘Listen To My Heart’ is fantastic in my opinion, and can be heard below (though you’ll have to purchase the album for the others!).

Do please check it out, I reckon it’s well worth your listen, and if you went and bought the album, let me know what you made of it! (I *heart* the artwork!) :D

A Shameless 21st for Manchester Pride!

OK, so watching this video clip has been on my ‘to-do’ list for a good few weeks now (oops!) – it’s a special short ‘film’ that’s been put together to help Manchester Pride celebrate its 21st year (hurrah!!)

A fab and very fun video, though not too sure about the slightly shaky QaF tribute at the start, but then I guess that, actually, Canal Street, and thus Manchester Pride, owe a lot to the show for kick-starting/refocusing gay culture back on Canal Street after the quieter times of the early 90s! :D

Also great to see the S.L.U.T.S. – Salford Ladies United Temperance Society -  outside of the Parade! (oh how I miss them for the other 364 days of the year! heh).

Manchester Pride is, without doubt, my favourite thing in my calendar each summer – I absolutely LOVE it and can’t wait to be up for it this year – anyone else going?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANCHESTER PRIDE! x

US Supreme Court allows anti-gay funeral protests

It’s not very often that I resort to a more serious style of blogging on these pages, however, the news last night that the US Supreme Court had failed to step in and act against the god-awful Westboro Baptist Church and their disgusting picketing of the funerals of US service men thoroughly shocked and appalled me!

Forgetting, for a moment, their vehemently anti-gay message (which, as a gay man, I find totally deplorable of course!), can you imagine if this band of hillbillies rock up to your son’s funeral – him having just prematurely died at a young age and in dedicated service for the freedoms of his country – and this bunch of clowns show up and start protesting?! It must be TERRIBLE for the families of the person who has died, especially as they seem to do it so indiscriminately. It absolutely disgusts me that someone who is defending his country and gives his life to defend it’s very constitution is also then royally shafted by enemies from within, hiding behind that very same constitution.

Fred and Margie Phelps should be absolutely ashamed of themselves in my opinion – for we gays, they’ve been on the radar for an awful long time now, and their message of hate towards the gay community is totally unacceptable. The methods that they use for disseminating their bile are thoroughly deplorable and I think that America really does need to try to reign in the far right and the religious zealots that we associate all too freely with America (and don’t even get me started on the American preachers who are systematically turning Africa into a violently homophobic continent!!).

I am all for the freedom of speech and whatnot, but there absolutely has to be limits to it, and I think the US needs to review its legislation and bringing it more in to line with that of the UK and the anti-hate laws that we have over here. Yes, they seemed a little odd and over-bearing at first, but actually, in practice, they can work very well!

I’ve actually not been this angry over a news story in quite some time, and I really do hope that something is done in Congress following this huge injustice to the memory of all those who are serving in the US army who are no longer with us, and who have had their funerals, their last chance to say goodbye, hijacked by some absolute loonies, who have no reason to be there other than to randomly cause trouble!

US Supreme Court allows anti-gay funeral protests

The US Supreme Court has ruled an anti-gay church has the right to picket military funerals under the US constitution’s free speech protections.

The court ruled 8-1 for the Westboro Baptist Church, throwing out an earlier $5m (£3m) judgement awarded to the father of a fallen US Marine.

Members carried signs denouncing the US for its tolerance of homosexuality.

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote church members’ speech cannot be limited “simply because it is upsetting”.

“What Westboro said, in the whole context of how and where it chose to say it, is entitled to ‘special protection’ under the First Amendment, and that protection cannot be overcome by a jury finding that the picketing was outrageous,” Justice Roberts wrote on Wednesday for the court.

Church members, led by the Reverend Fred Phelps, have picketed outside numerous military funerals to draw attention to their view that US military deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan are punishment for the immorality of Americans, including tolerance of homosexuality and abortion.

“Speech is powerful. It can stir people to action, move them to tears of both joy and sorrow, and – as it did here – inflict great pain,” Justice Roberts wrote.

“On the facts before us, we cannot react to that pain by punishing the speaker. As a nation we have chosen a different course – to protect even hurtful speech on public issues to ensure that we do not stifle public debate.”

Lance Cpl Matthew Snyder was killed in a Humvee accident in Iraq in 2006 and his body was returned to the US state of Maryland.

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church travelled from their base in Kansas to the funeral site, alerted local police of their planned protest and picketed peacefully, on public land, in accordance with police guidance.

For about 30 minutes before the funeral began, the protesters marched with signs reading: “Thank God for Dead Soldiers”, “You’re Going to Hell” and “God Hates the USA/Thank God for 9/11″.

Mr Snyder saw only the tops of the group’s signs, according to the court record, but saw what was written on them on a television news broadcast later that evening.

He then filed a lawsuit in March 2006, accusing the church of intentionally inflicting emotional distress and won $11m at trial in 2007, later reduced by a judge to $5m.

A federal appeals court in Virginia threw out the judgement, saying the constitution shielded the church members from liability. The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed.

In a dissent, Justice Samuel Alito wrote the First Amendment to the constitution does not grant the right intentionally to inflict emotional distress on private figures.

“Our profound national commitment to free and open debate is not a licence for the vicious verbal assault that occurred in this case,” he wrote.

“In order to have a society in which public issues can be openly and vigorously debated, it is not necessary to allow the brutalisation of innocent victims.”

Following the ruling on Wednesday, Margie Phelps, Mr Phelps’s daughter and the lawyer representing the church, told reporters that the case “put a megaphone to the mouth of this little church”.

“We read the law. We follow the law. The only way for a different ruling is to shred the First Amendment,” she added.

It Gets Better – The West End speaks out!

So, by now we’re all more than familiar with the ‘It Gets Better’ videos that have been popping up all over the internet – from communities and celebrities alike. It’s a vitally important message and one which is hopefully doing a lot of good around the World.

Although all of them have been extremely moving, I’d been waiting for one to surface that I could really relate to, and, given my love for and involvement in the West End community, when I discovered this video made by theatre folk in the West End, it really got to me.

It’s really nice to know that as I sit in my office here in Leicester Square, all these awesome people are sat all around me, doing their thing and being themselves through the streets and stages of Covent Garden and Theatreland.

Awesome stuff.

Harry Potter And The X-Rated Trailer [Cassette Boy]

Once again, Cassetteboy has excelled in the field of mirthsome trailers – with the Harry Potter franchise being the latest ‘victim’, and a tired old meme given a fresh lease of life :)

Splendiferous!

Of course, I would normally make a crass wand related joke right about now usually, however the Holy Moly story about the guy who ‘flopped his cock out’ at the HP premiere last week contains more than enough LOLs :P

Manchester Pride 2010

As is seemingly traditional for me, I’ve left posting my Manchester Pride post until well after the event has passed – doh! In my defense life has been pretty hectic the last few weeks and I’ve been exhausted heh!

As I kind of pre-empted this, the Vimeo clip below is me vlogging my thoughts on the first few days of pride, up until the Sunday evening :P

(please turn the sound right up to hear)

I TOTALLY MET SIR IAN MCKELLEN! (this is still very exciting to me, heh!)

…On the Sunday evening I went over to David’s suite again, as most of the group wanted to go and see Kelis, who I thought I wasn’t a fan of, but having looked at Spotify since, it turns out that I would have liked three of her older songs. Not that I would have heard them anyway, we were towards the back of Bloom Street and all you could make out from there was a load of dull thudding, bah!

The adventure of Sunday night was definitely getting stuck in the lift at David’s hotel! Three others decided to jump in with us, causing the lift to be over-full and come grinding to a halt! Scary stuff, especially when none of us had a mobile phone reception at first! As you have no doubt guessed, we managed to get out of this situation relatively unscathed… :P

I came home on the Monday lunchtime and was home by 5pm – much preferred leaving early rather than trying to drag an extra day out of it as I’ve done in the past. Despite spending a fortune over the weekend, I still managed to justify spending a lot on a new jacket too! ;)

As for the Parade itself this year, I was a little bit underwhelmed if I’m honest, but I still very much enjoyed it! I think they need something bigger at the end of the parade as otherwise it gets a little anti-climatic.

Below is a video that I’ve made of all my parade photos (you should totally turn up your speakers and get bopping along!):

(for those with access / people I chat to regularly – you can also check out my facebook page for full versions of these photos)

…. and here are large copies of some of my favourites (especially those Salford Ladies and now the Swinton Leathers :P )
