As friends and regular readers will know, each year, I get my Womble on and head on down to SW19 for a few weeks to work at The Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
Each year, it involves my working a lot of long hours (this year was no exception – I did around 210 in two weeks; more than most people work in six weeks!); it’s often challenging, but ALWAYS fantastic fun!
This year, the team that we had were fabulous, and I had a great laugh with many new people, and had some quality fun times with old friends. Without doubt, it’s always the absolute highlight of my year; I totally love working it!
Below are some of the photos, songs, and videos that contributed to my experience this year, and helped to keep me (relatively) sane!
- This year, Dan and I were put up in a house that was worth over £1,000,000 (yes, that’s a million!) – here’s a badly shot walk through of it that I did for Max, when I was very tired, and in a rush…
- Here’s a slideshow of a few pictures taken whilst I was away:
- Few memories that will always stick with me as making me laugh so much – the first being Janine, Paul and I in the lift (‘Schindler’s lift’), with J and P doing the ‘mamma mia’ bit of Bohemian Rhapsody in the reflective glass, whilst bobbing up and down in time, and singing wildly, before stepping out really calmly and smartly on to the Grounds when the doors opened, and, secondly, the look on Janine’s face when she saw that her food had been pilfered from the fridge, and that half of the kids were sat around eating it in front of her, oblivious, haha!!
- Every year, I also end up with several songs being stuck in my head owing to confined spaces and catchy songs… this year was no exception!
This one, is thanks to Janine singing it every few minutes:
.. and this one, is as Dan and I didn’t seem to be able to stop singing it!
Needless to say, we had several sing-a-long moments down in the bunker, especially towards the end of the day, but I think we always entertained, ha!
It’s been SO weird being back in Manchester, and I have to say that I am really really missing being at The Championships. I am already looking forward to 2013, and really hope that I’ll be in a position to take them on again next year when the opportunity rises!
Until then, it’s Game, Set and Match for my Wimbledon 2012 experience!
