The red car and the blue car had a race…

Huzzah!

Milky way advert from the 1980′s (back when everything was fun and exciting for us kiddies!).

If you need the lyrics to song-a-long, then frankly, I’m bitterly disappointed in you!!

the red car and the blue car had a race
all red wants to do is stuff his face
he eats everything he sees
from trucks to prickly trees
but smart old blue he took the milky way

he’s looking for a chocolate treat
fluffy and light
cos he knows it won’t spoil his app-e-tite

mm mm MMMM!

oh no! the bridge has gone, old red can’t carry on
but smart old blue, he took the milky way

New Thingbox video? Me thinks so! :D

  1. Unbelievable. I was Just reading my school autograph book………one of my school mates had put….. “remember when we used to sing red car, blue car on the bus….”

I cant believe the words are available. lol.

  2. OMG have just seen this on telly, not as part of a programme but during an advert break. Had forgotten all about it, but I sang all the words. Isn’t it funny how it comes flooding back?

  3. When my kids where little this add was on, and they used to sing along to it, wonderfull stuff, i also saw it on tv the other day

  4. Thanks for the comments folks; I’ve yet to see the advert on the TV (though have my eyes peeled for it!). Great that they’ve decided to bring it back of their own accord!

We need to get some more classic adverts revived I reckon(I’m thinking Vitalite and Kia-Ora heh!)

  5. My favourite advert of my childhood……
I loved the song and still remembered EVERY word.
Fantastic!!! My missus thinks i’m mad but i don’t care!!

  6. I’ve seen this on TV recently too, as someone already pointed out they have changed some of the words. I think it’s slightly shorter too

  7. When I first saw this, I didn’t know whether it was a clever and frugal use of the advertisers’ budget, in a time of deep recession and cut backs… or whether they were just being lazy and tight. I then stopped being cynical and thinking too much about adverts, and decided to just enjoy the nostalgia trip instead. That worked much better! I’m now busy googling old Kia-Ora, Babycham and Snackpot ads. As an aside, I was in the original Bird}s Eye Arctic Roll advert. And yes, I have been dining out on that ever since ;)

    • Hi,

Sorry, I don’t know either of those things – the music is likely recorded by session singers, so it will never have been released.
